The combination of the winter wonderland of the Engadine and the highly traditional St. Moritz hotel trade with a visit by international chefs of high-end gastronomy has proven to be a great success. The exceptionally close and intense collaboration leads to fruitful impulses that are of benefit for gourmet fans all over the world. In addition, the organisers of the festival attach particular importance to the creative exchange with young cookery talents and the promotion of their careers. They therefore created in 2011, the ‘Young Engadine Talents’ competition for up-and-coming chefs.

In traditional fashion, one culinary highlight will line up after the other. The Gourmet Diners will take place every evening at 7 p.m. Guests can individually savour the art of cooking of each of the major guest chefs while enjoying a five-course or à la carte menu in the stylish restaurants of the festival partner hotels. Nine star-crowned chefs from seven countries in one week, without having to travel around the world!

Since the start of the festival 20 years ago, the Kitchen Party at the Badrutt’s Palace Hotels has become a true signature experience of the Festival. This coveted gourmet event will take place on Wednesday evening, January 30, from 10.30 p.m. onwards. All the master chefs will move into action together, waiting at the stoves for the guests who will be able to savour the prepared delicacies directly around steaming saucepans and sizzling frying pans! With rousing live music and accompanied by champagne, wine and spirits, this ultimate culinary party will continue at the ‘King’s Club’ into the wee small hours.

Another highlight is a Gourmet Festival Village on Thursday afternoon, 31st January 2013. It will be set up for all visitors and the local population in the pedestrian precinct. On numerous market stands, the young chefs of the festival partner hotels and restaurants, as well as a great number of festival sponsors will offer for sale a vast culinary diversity of dishes and drinks. Furthermore, all international guest master chefs will be present from 5 to 6 p.m. to sign the festival aprons which will also be on sale.
